Arrests and citations
On April 7 at 3:25 a.m. Jason Louis Schiltz, 32, of Denison, was cited and released for driving while barred.
On April 11 at 5:43 p.m. Ignacio Romero Trujillo, 31, of Denison, was charged with driving while barred and violation of no-contact order.
On April 11 at 5:43 p.m., Karla Morales Chino, 25 was charged with violation of no-contact order.
On April 10 at 9:50 p.m., Todd Alan Meehan, 18, of Denison, was arrested on a warrant.
On April 13 at 4:25 a.m., Jason Schiltz, 32, was charged with driving while barred.
A two-vehicle accident was reported at 4:32 p.m. on April 7 on 200th Street. Kati Ann Dorale, 35, of Denison, was driving a black 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup north on 200th Street and was slowing to turn into a field drive. Larry Ray Brodersen, 71, of Charter Oak, was driving a white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, also going north, behind the Dorale pickup. Brodersen stated he was looking at a tractor applying anhydrous in a field, did not see the Dorale pickup slowing and struck it from the rear. The Dorale pickup received about $8,000 in damage and Brodersen’s pickup received about $15,000 in damage. Two passengers were in the Dorale pickup, Wyatt Dorale, 9, and Whitney Dorale, 6. No injuries were reported. Brodersen was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance.
At 1:13 p.m. on April 12, Crawford County Deputy Nate Christensen attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Arion. The vehicle fled and a pursuit took place. During the pursuit, Christensen lost control of his vehicle, which rolled. The accident was covered by the Iowa State Patrol. The vehicle was able to get away. A few minutes later, another vehicle was stolen a small distance away from the accident scene. Deputy Jeff Trailer located that vehicle and another pursuit took place. The vehicle took a Level B road and was able to get away. The vehicle was recovered in Arion later in the morning.
Social gathering reports
At 5:56 p.m. on April 11, the law enforcement center received a report of a large social gathering on 5th Avenue in Vail. The area was checked, and the sheriff’s office reported it was unable to locate any large group of people.
At 5:56 p.m. on April 11, the law enforcement center received a report of a large social gathering on M55 across from the Catholic Church in Vail. Five people were located standing outside the residence. They advised that they were moving in. No violation was observed.
Thefts and break-ins
At 5:13 p.m. on April 9, Morris Sandoval reported two kids inside his empty trailer near Denison.
At 11:42 p.m. on April 10, Monica McClellan reported that kids broke into a house in Manilla to smoke.
At 2:25 p.m. on April 10, Laurie Chandler reported a theft in Deloit.
At 12:41 p.m. on April 9, a fire was reported at the city burn pile in Schleswig.
At 6:28 p.m. on April 9, an RV was reported on fire at 2239 N Avenue near Denison. The REV was next to a barn. The wind direction was north/northwest and the speed was 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 26 miles per hours at 7:34 p.m.
At 9:53 p.m. on April 9, a wood pile was reported on fire on Deloit Boulevard near Denison. The Deloit and Denison fire departments were paged.
At 1:22 p.m. on April 9, the law enforcement center received a report of vehicle windows shot out at Highway 30 and Q Avenue near Denison.
At 11:23 p.m. on April 10, a Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K9 was deployed in ridge road in Denison.
