Arrests and citations

At 11 a.m. on June 4, Troy Allen Huisinga, 44, of rural Denison, was arrested for serious assault.

At 12: 30 p.m. on June 4, Alvaro Chilel Martin, 26, of Denison, was arrested for OWI.

At 1:33 a.m. on June 7, Javier Villa Vega, 28, of Denison, was arrested and charged with OWI, 1st offense.

At 4:26 p.m. on June 8, Nicholas David Kirk, 30, of Charter Oak, was arrested on a Crawford County warrant.

At 7:30 p.m. on June 9, Joaquin Mauricio Castro, 56, of Denison, was arrested for public intoxication and trespassing at a residence on 2nd Avenue South in Denison.

At 7:54 p.m. on June 10, Timothy Ryan Hoffman, 36, was arrested for driving while suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed a K9 deployment and positive alert after Hoffman’s vehicle was stopped at the Bomgaars parking lot.

At 9:37 p.m. on June 10, Agustin Rodriguez-Meja, 32, was arrested after a K9 deployment and positive alert. He was charged with not having a driver’s license. The traffic stop occurred at Highway 59 and 13th Avenue South in Denison.


At 4:30 p.m. on June 8, the Crawford County Law Enforcement Center received a report of a burglary at an apartment on North 15th Street in Denison. Approximately $400 in cash was reported stolen.


At 10:40 a.m. on June 8, Pam Tripp at the Charter Oak City Hall reported that sometime since March 30, an unknown subject or subjects have been vandalizing the picnic table behind the city hall building. Garbage was also thrown about in the area.


At 3:18 p.m. on June 9, the Crawford County Law Enforcement Center received a report of a Kiron resident receiving harassing phone calls on the landline. The telephone company that provides the service was contacted and will fax the forms needed to trace the caller’s number.

Property damage

At 4:15 p.m. on June 9, Gary Valk, of Manning, reported damage to a vehicle on Highway 141 between Manilla and Manning.

Power line calls

At 5:05 p.m. on June 9, the Crawford County Law Enforcement received a report of a power line down across Highway 141 at 140th Street in Charter Oak.

At 11:57 p.m. on June 9, MidAmerican Energy reported a tree on fire and a power line on the tree at 2nd Street and Oak Avenue in Charter Oak. The power company advised that their workers were on their way to respond to the call.

Dog fight

A dog versus dog attack was reported at 9:27 p.m. on June 8 at 49 North Orange Street in Kiron. The owners of the dogs that did the attacking are Jose Rangel and Jana Lee, who are going to provide a copy of records for the dogs to the sheriff’s office.


A backing accident occurred at 2:15 p .m. on June 10 at Hilldale Estates, North 10th Street, Denison. Tracy Jean Simonsen, 45, of Manilla, was backing a silver 2005 Dodge Caravan from a parking spot at Hilldale Estates and struck a gray 2011 Hyundai Sonata in the front passenger side. The Hyundai was being driven east in the parking lot by Tara Lynn Gaul, 39, of Earling. Gaul’s vehicle received $1,000 damage to the front passenger side corner. Simonsen’s vehicle received $500 damage to the rear passenger side corner.

At 8:56 p.m. on June 10, the Crawford County Law Enforcement Center received a report of a vehicle versus deer accident on Highway 30, Dow City. A white 4-door Toyota was going east on Highway 30 and left the scene of the accident. The investigating deputy was unable to locate the vehicle and advised that the deer had been removed from the roadway.
