At 12:54 a.m. on June 23, Luis Angel Andrade, 21, of Denison was arrested for OW1, 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor; leaving the scene of an accident; speeding 16-20 over in a 55 or under zone; and open container. The accident occurred at 12:51 a.m. on June 23 on Highway 30 in Denison. Andrade was driving a gray 2015 BMW east on Highway 30 when he struck a divided-highway sign near the intersection with South 20th Street. Andrade was not injured. The sign was valued at $300. Andrade’s vehicle received $1,500 damage to the front driver side corner.


A two-vehicle accident happened in the Hy-Vee parking lot at 11:45 a.m. on June 23. Nellie Mae Bretey, 79, of Denison, was backing a tan 2014 Jeep Cherokee and struck a silver 2016 Ford F150 pickup that was driving through the parking lot. Bretey told the investigating officer that she looked behind her and didn’t see anyone coming before backing up. The driver of the pickup was Randy Joe Clinton, 69, of Denison. Neither driver was injured. Each vehicle received $1,000 damage.

A vehicle versus deer accident was reported at 9:47 p.m. on June 22. The accident occurred at Highway 30 and Rock Run near Denison.


On June 23, it was reported that a white Bobcat skid loader, valued at $30,000, was stolen from Vetter Equipment in Denison. The value of the item stolen makes the incident theft in the 1st degree, a Class C felony.

Fireworks complaints

Multiple calls about fireworks being discharged in Dow City were made around 10:40 p.m. on June 23.

At 10:11 p.m. on June 24, the Crawford County Law Enforcement Center received a complaint about fireworks being discharged in Charter Oak. A sheriff’s deputy spoke with the individual involved, who said they will be done discharging them until July 4.

Agency assist

At 4:30 p.m. on June 23, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office provided an agency assist at D&J Trailer Park in Denison.
