The body of missing Wall Lake trucker David Schultz was found in a Sac County field Wednesday afternoon. Schultz, a married father of 10-year-old twin boys, vanished before Thanksgiving.Â
Jake Rowley, a leader in the search for David Schultz, said a second autopsy will be performed without the body of the Wall Lake trucker.Â
Sarah Schultz said she has felt relief and sorrow since she learned her husband David Schultz's body had been discovered by a farmer in his freshly tilled field roughly 1 1/2 miles from where his semi-tractor trailer loaded with hogs was abandoned.
A spokesman for David Schultz's family told The Journal Friday they plan to have a private forensic pathology firm conduct a second autopsy on the Wall Lake, Iowa, trucker's body. "I don't feel comfortable with the results of the initial autopsy."
The service came 16 days after Schultz's body was found near where his red Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer loaded with hogs was discovered abandoned the afternoon of Nov. 21, 2023.
Schultz, a 53-year-old married father of twin boys, was found dead April 24 in a field in rural Sac County, not far from where his semi truck was discovered abandoned more than five months earlier.
David Schultz died from hypothermia related to acute methamphetamine intoxication, according to a copy of the death certificate for the Wall Lake trucker. Dr. Kelly Kruse, a state medical examiner, listed Schultz's manner of death as an accident.Â
