Storyline Chinese carmaker Geely uses AI agents to speed up vehicle development Chinese auto giant Geely is using AI agents across every stage of their new vehicle development. At the company's Research Institute in east China's in Ningbo city, engineers collaborate with AI-powered "digital employees" to do things like write code and debug software. Developers say modern vehicles rely on thousands of software modules, making development increasingly complex. But with the help of the company's 64 self-developed AI agents, development is speeding up and efficiency is improving. Kang Zhixi, Senior Chief Engineer, Geely: "With AI's assistance, the overall efficiency of software development has improved by about 30 percent compared to the traditional method. For coding tasks specifically, we're seeing efficiency gains of up to 50 percent." Beyond research, AI is also being used inside the cars. In one demonstration, a smart cockpit system known as EVA responds to voice commands, including open-ended requests to plan a road trip. Ye Sai'er, Senior Product Manager, Geely: "You only need to provide a vague instruction, and it can independently understand the intent, formulate a plan, and even execute the task on its own." Geely is sharing these technologies and others with local auto parts suppliers, to help elevate intelligence and efficiency across the country's entire automotive supply chain.
