Dolly Parton’s estate has applied for a temporary restraining order against her nephew Bryan Seaver, accusing him of threats, extortion, and intimidation. According to court filings, Seaver is accused of mounting “an obscene, deliberate and escalating campaign of threats” to obtain money from the Parton estate. Seaver, the son of Parton’s sister Cassie, served as his aunt’s head of security for over 20 years before being terminated by Parton’s team earlier this month. Following the country icon's passing, Seaver posted a video announcement on social media, claiming he was honoring a personal request Parton made years prior. She’s Alive, an organization founded by Parton to protect her legacy after her death, terminated Seaver, alleging he became “emboldened” after she died. In text messages included in the court documents, a person identified as allegedly Seaver wrote that he will “become the hand of retribution for my entire family." In a separate email, Seaver reportedly wrote, “I’m not an entertainment person. I’m a killer,” while requesting to get dinner with one of Parton’s longtime lawyers. According to the court filings, Seaver also threatened to “destroy” Parton’s “entire brand” unless he received payment from the corporation. The proposed restraining order seeks to prevent Seaver from coming within 1,000 feet of Parton’s property, as well as She’s Alive employees, attorneys, and business partners.
