IOWA CITY — Iowa football sports a distinct look. And, since its introduction in 1979, the Hawkeyes rarely strayed from their black-and-gold uniforms, styled after those of the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a black helmet with a gold center stripe and gold Tigerhawk — ever facing forward — on either side.
