Three rushers eclipse 100 yards as Iowa routs Northern Iowa

The Hawkeyes (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) raced out to a 42-0 halftime advantage before putting the Panthers (1-2, 0-0 Missouri Valley) away with a pair of touchdowns in the second half.

Iowa racked up 640 yards of total offense with Xavier Williams (six rushes for 151 yards and three touchdowns), Braeden Jackson (11 rushes for 125 yards and one touchdown) and Nathan McNeil (12 rushes for 111 yards and two touchdowns) all hitting the century mark.

Quarterback Hank Brown went 12-of-12 for 153 yards and two touchdowns while the Hawkeyes' defense held UNI to 155 total yards and forced two turnovers.

"Certainly, happy to get the win, and happier with our team's efforts this week and their focus," head coach Kirk Ferentz said. "That really started last Sunday. I thought they handled that well, looking at the tape from the day before. Day by day, they've done a good job preparing, so happy about that.

"... Bigger picture, pleased with the way the guys were in camp and then certainly pleased with the way they've operated the last three weeks. Now the whole idea is for us to keep growing, and hopefully we're learning. I think they are but just learning every day and give ourselves a chance to have success as we move forward here. The bottom line is they're playing with good effort and playing team football, which gives you an opportunity."

Kamari Moulton expected to miss matchup with Panthers

Fourth-year Iowa running back Kamari Moulton is not expected to play against the Panthers after suffering an injury late in the win over the Cylones last week.

Moulton has rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns through the first two weeks.

Nathan McNeil and Xavier Williams will see an expanded workload with LJ Phillips still working working back from a lower body injury in Week 1.

Nathan McNeil capped an eight-play, 75-yard drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown to put the Hawkeyes in front after the first drive of the day.

Iowa used three different running backs, including walk-on Braeden Jackson, during the possession.

Brown, Jackson connect to double Hawkeyes' lead

After forcing a UNI punt, the Hawkeyes drove 78 yards in six plays to double its lead.

Brown capped the drive with a 24-yard pass to Jackson for the Ankeny Centennial's first career touchdown.

Through the first two drives, Brown is 8-of-8 for 89 yards and one touchdown. 

Xavier Williams makes it a three-score Iowa lead

Williams became the third Iowa running back to score a touchdown in the first quarter when he ripped off a 48-yard touchdown.

The score marked a new career-long for the Schererville, Indiana native.

Hank Brown finds Addison Ostrenga for Iowa's fourth touchdown of first half

Brown improved to 11-of-11 for 135 yards and two touchdowns when he completed his lone pass attempt on Iowa's fourth drive to Addison Otrenga.

The tight end secured the screen pass and ran behind a convoy of blockers for an 11-yard touchdown.

Xavier Williams extends lead to 35-0 early in second quarter

Williams found the end zone again on a 16-yard rush through the right side of the Panthers' defense.

With the run, Williams pushed his rushing total to 103 yards on four attempts for his second career game with 100 or more rushing yards.

Iowa takes 42-0 lead into half after Nathan McNeil's second touchdown

After coming up empty on the first of two Jeremy Hecklinski-led drives, McNeil found the end zone again to end an eight-play, 90-yard drive just before halftime.

The Hawkeyes finished the first half with 421 yards of total offense (201 pass, 220 rush) and only failed to score on one drive in the first 30 minutes of action.

Xavier Williams secures the hat trick

Williams scored his third rushing touchdown of the day on his sixth rushing attempt of the day.

He cut up the left sideline and ran 37 yards for the score.

He's run for 151 yards.

Braeden Jackson scores again, Iowa leads by 55

Jackson became the Hawkeyes' third running back to rush for more than 100 yards and third running back to rush for a touchdown on Saturday with a 62-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.

The former walk-on ran for 108 yards on nine attempts.
