Illinois State guard Ty'Reek Coleman announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes in a post to social media.
"Let's do it," Coleman wrote in the caption.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard recently wrapped up his freshman season at Illinois State where he appeared in 35 games for the Redbirds, including 19 starts.
He averaged 10 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 22.8 minutes per game. He shot 50.4% from the field and 41.6% from three-point range during his lone season in Normal.
Coleman scored in double figures 15 times, including games of 24 and 22 points. He scored 17 in Illinois State's season-ending loss to Auburn in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and scored 16 in a non-conference clash with Southern California.
A three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the Aurora, Illinois native committed to the Redbirds over offers from Miami (OH), Missouri State, Indiana State, Murray State and Northern Iowa. He was the No. 365 overall player in the class, No. 40 combo guard and No. 9 player in Illinois according to the 247Sports Industry Composite Rankings.
A star at Waubonsie Valley High School, Coleman scored 1,339 points and recorded a program-record 168 steals as a two-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State selection.
He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
