It was Iowa's first (official) win in the rivalry since 2021 and first win over the Cyclones (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) in Iowa City since 2018.

IOWA CITY — It almost seemed too absurd to be true. But, as the Iowa football team flooded the field and the celebratory pyrotechnics signaled a Hawkeye win to the 69,250 fans in Kinnick Stadium, the game officials actually did send the team back to the sideline to review the game clock on the final play.
